The Level III Network Infrastructure Installation Technician is responsible for supporting the deployment, operation, maintenance, audit, and assessment of critical network, optical, server, and telecommunications infrastructure within data centers and network Points of Presence (PoPs) throughout North America.

This position performs advanced installation, site survey, troubleshooting, repair, testing, audit, and documentation activities in mission-critical network environments. Technicians will support optical transport systems, fiber infrastructure, routers, switches, servers, structured cabling systems, and associated network equipment while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and customer performance standards.


Responsibilities

Site Surveys & Infrastructure Assessments

  • Perform pre-deployment site surveys and facility assessments.
  • Verify rack space, power availability, grounding, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Evaluate existing network, telecom, server, and fiber infrastructure.
  • Identify cable pathways and routing requirements.
  • Develop and document Bills of Material (BOMs) required for deployments.
  • Capture and submit site photographs and assessment documentation.
  • Prepare site survey reports and deployment recommendations.
  • Identify potential installation obstacles and infrastructure deficiencies prior to deployment activities.

Network Deployment & Installation

  • Install routers, switches, servers, optical transport equipment, and associated hardware.
  • Rack, stack, cable, label, and document network infrastructure.
  • Install and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Install optical transceivers and associated interconnection components.
  • Perform equipment commissioning, testing, and validation.
  • Execute deployment activities according to engineering design packages and project requirements.
  • Complete installation quality audits and deployment documentation.

Fiber Optic Installation & Testing

  • Install, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain fiber optic systems.
  • Perform OTDR, VFL, power meter, and optical testing activities.
  • Verify fiber continuity and network path integrity.
  • Troubleshoot fiber impairments and circuit issues.
  • Clean, inspect, and certify fiber connections.
  • Support optical transport network deployments and maintenance activities.

Network Operations & Maintenance

  • Respond to break-fix and operational support activities.
  • Troubleshoot routers, switches, servers, storage devices, and optical platforms.
  • Replace failed hardware components and perform equipment upgrades.
  • Support planned maintenance and migration activities.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and corrective actions.
  • Restore service during outage and incident response activities.
  • Document repairs, maintenance activities, and field findings.

Audits & Inventory Management

  • Conduct network infrastructure audits and validations.
  • Perform asset and inventory verification activities.
  • Validate equipment records against field conditions.
  • Support inventory management and spare equipment tracking.
  • Assist with remediation activities resulting from audit findings.
  • Prepare and submit audit reports and supporting documentation.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate service records and installation documentation.
  • Submit reports, photographs, drawings, redlines, and survey results.
  • Document completed work activities and quality inspections.
  • Communicate field findings to project managers and engineering teams.
  • Support project reporting and operational metrics initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all customer, company, and site safety requirements.
  • Utilize appropriate PPE and safety equipment.
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Perform work in accordance with quality control standards and customer expectations.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, fiber optics, data center operations, or related field.
  • Experience with network equipment installations and structured cabling.
  • Working knowledge of fiber optic technologies and troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience performing site surveys and infrastructure assessments.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Certification
  • Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • Data Center Infrastructure Experience
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or carrier-grade network environments
  • Experience with optical transport, transport networks, or telecommunications infrastructure deployment projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in active data center and telecommunications environments.
  • Ability to travel as required to support deployment and maintenance activities across assigned markets.

  • High School diploma or GED and Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school, or equivalent as determined by the Installation Manager 
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer
  • You respond promptly to customer needs and request customer feedback to improve the partnership
  • You have the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and work within company-provided databases to update job statuses
  • You have the ability to lift tools and equipment as needed (minimum 10 lbs)
  • You are proficient in customer specifications and standards
  • You possess excellent communication skills, speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; demonstrate group presentation skills
  • You have excellent time management; you organize and plan work activities, set goals and objectives, and develop realistic action plans
  • You are dependable; follow instructions, respond to management's directions, and keep commitments
