Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible to produce end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.  

In addition, you will: 

  • Perform fiber splicing and maintenance, including prepping cable (mid-sheath/ring cut, tray) and splicing various fiber types (single, ribbon, loose tube, plenum).
  • Install and maintain fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, Commscope, Corning) in aerial and underground environments using bucket trucks, ladders, and handholes.
  • Test and troubleshoot fibers using OTDR (1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM), OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
  • Read and interpret splicing matrixes, schematics, and design drawings; create accurate as-builts.
  • Apply fiber engineering knowledge on construction projects, working with larger count fibers (48–288+).
  • Maintain strict safety standards while working around live fiber in outdoor utility environments.

Qualifications

About You: 

  • Safety-minded and team-oriented.

  • Minimum 3 years’ fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting experience.

  • 1+ year coax splicing (mainline) preferred; optical node provisioning/turn-up a plus.

  • Proficient with fusion splicers, OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and aerial lift operation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to work independently and troubleshoot outages.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of completing required paperwork/as-builts.

  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments, with flexibility for on-call shifts and overtime.

  • Valid driver’s license with clean record (CDL preferred).

  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather.
